BIOGRAPHY: SOURCE: Averett Family History, 929.271 Ave 35a, by George W.
G. Averett (grandson of George Gill,III and Jennett Hamilton
)
John Averett(1780) emigrated to Kentucky and settled in Barren Co. He bec
ame acquainted with Jannett Hamilton Gill, born 5 Dec. 1786, daughter o
f George Gill III (1753) and Jennett Hamilton (1763). Great Grandfather
, George Gill, Jr. (abt 1728) and his son, my grandfather George Gill II
I (1753), sometime before the war of 1776, came from Ireland to America a
nd settled in Pennsylvania. Sometime before the Revolutionary War, Grandf
ather George Gill III, married Jennett Hamilton who was also from Ireland
, or at least her parents came from Ireland. Great Grandfather George Gil
l,Jr.and Grandfather George Gill III, at the outbreak of the Revolution
, enlisted in the army and fought under George Washington and other Ameri
can Officers. They passed through many hardships and dangers through th
e whole of that war, being in one defeat (was the Summer's Surprise) an
d many victories.
Sometime after the surrender of Commander Wallace, George III and Jennett
, immigrated to North Carolina and had one children, Mary Gill, born 12 J
an. or 22, 1781 or 9. Soon after they emigrated on pack animals to the Da
niel Boone settlement in the wilds of Kentucky, there lived and fought wi
th Daniel Boone in the early settlement of that state. They finally sett
led in Barren County Kentucky."
VARIATION: Elijah Averett born 1810 did temple work for his grandfather G
eorge Gill born 1753 and his greatgrandfather, Robert Gill. For this rea
son I have determined that his father is Robert and not George Gill as re
corded in Ancestral Quest. Robert Gill is also mentioned as a member o
f the Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church in Chester County, South Carolina

SOURCES: Lease (professional Researcher in Ireland said Gills and Hamilto
ns had land next door to each other in Ireland.)
Patrick Hamilton held lease of land previously held by Patrick Hamilton 1
693. Immigrated to America 1756 at same time as George Gill. He was alrea

hed America.
Brother Patrick Hamilton and George Gill had held leases from the Clanbri
ssel estate; George Gill at Clanbrassil near Lurgan and Patrick Hamilto
n at Granshaw, Comber, Down, Ireland. Patrick held the benefit of a leas

r sold his inheritance in the Clanbrassil estate to Sir Robert Colvil wh
o later disposed of the head lease to the Earl of Clanbrassel. Received f
