Stewart, Melbourne Clair, Bishop of the Hollywood Ward, Hollywood Stake, California, from 1923 to 1927, was born April 2, 1890, in Kanab, Utah, the son of Alonzo L. Stewart and Martha Elzadia Averett. He was baptized in July, 1914, ordained a High Priest in September, 1919, by Hyrum M. Smith, and a Bishop March 11, 1923, by Pres. Heber J. Grant.
