!BIRTH:
J.T. Stewart lists birthdate as 1690
On 9-2-1704 Dr. John Stewart made a will with James Simpson,Samuel Knowle s & Roger Corbett as witnesses. In his will, proved in court, in Susse x Co., DE on 1-13-1705, he listed as one of his children, David.

BIOGRAPHY: Researcher Joyce Lindstrom: David was born about 1692 in Hem pstead Nassau, NY. He was underage in 1704 when his father made out his w ill. He died in 1718 as he left an inventory dated 25 Feb 1718/9 in Suss ex Co., Del. According to his inventory, he had no cradle and only enoug h utensils for him t eat with. His inventory is that of a bachelor. Davi d was a carpenter. He owned land, but I don't know what happened to hi s share of land he received fro his father unless he sold it to his broth ers.

BIOGRAPHY: From the database of Mary Stewart Hicks: David Stewart was bor n in New York City about 1680 or shortly thereafter. He was the son of D r. John Stewart and Elizabeth Alberti. Elizabeth was the daughter of Ja n (John) Albert and Elizabeth Scudder. It is not known how long he and h is parents lived in Ne York. We do know that he and his Father, Dr. Joh n Stewart, still lived in New York in 1686 when his father was a witnes s to a land transaction between Adam Wright & William Buckler. This tran saction was also witnessed by John Townsend & John Newman. John Townsen d & Adam Wright were of the Townsend & Wright families that were also rel ated to the Stewarts. Sometime before 1697 the family had moved to Monmo uth Co., New Jersey, in the town of Shrewsbury. Shortly after the famil y arrived in Monmouth Co., his father (Dr. John Stewart) became the Hig h Sheriff of the County. David was probably married (circa 1710) while h e lived in New Jersey but the name of his wife is not know. Sometime aft er 1702, he and his father and their families moved to Sussex Co., Delawa re, to the town of Lowe.

David's profession is generally thought to be a carpenter and he and hi s wife lived in Lowe, Delaware until his early death in 1719. It is gene rally presume that his wife had died sometime before his death in 1719 . He probably did not leave a Will because his estate was administered o n February 25, 1718 by his brother John and no mention is made of a wife . John asked the court to grant him letters of administration on David' s estate, which the court granted. The names of David's children are no t shown in the records extant. A valuation of his estate was made on Ma y 10, 1719 by John Hall & William Darter, a neighbor o his mother and ste pfather, Thomas Davock. This valuation and inventory was presented to th e Court on May 11, 1719, and included 100 acres of land valued a 20 pound s, two-year old mare valued at 1 pount-25 shillings, saddle & bridle valu ed at 5 pounds and a sword valued at 2 shillings-sixpence. The estate to taled 38 pounds. It is supposed that none of his children were adults whe n he died and they were probably raised by his brother John or their moth er's family He was probably buried in Sussex Co., Delaware.
