!DEATH: In an article written in the Nauvoo Neighbor, 30 Aug 1843, it st ates that Elizabeth Stewart died on 28 Aug 1843 at the age of 54 in Nauvo o, Illinois She is buried in the Old Nauvoo Burial Ground in Nauvoo, Ill . Researcher: Georgenia Stewart

BIRTH: abt 1788, Troy, Madison, Illinois. VARIATION: abt 1876, Virginia ; abt 1772 in Overton Co., Tennessee; abt 1772, West Edwardsville, Madiso n, Illinois.

HISTORY: Elizabeth Van Hooser, b. abt 1788/9 in Montgomery County, Virgin ia, th daughter of Abraham Van Hooser and Mary Williams, moved with her p arents to Grainger County, Tennessee and later to Overton County, Tenness ee where she met and married William Stewart b abt 1786 in Greene County , Tennessee, the son of Joseph Stewart and Sarah Gilbert. The early marri age records of Overton County, Tennessee are missing, but the Legislativ e Petitions of 1824 list a petition of William Stewart from Overton Count y, Tennessee askng to be granted a divorce. Elizabeth and her husband mov ed to Madison County, Illinois where one of their sons was born, but retu rned to Overton County, Tennessee where they lived until their divorce. A fter that Willilam Stewart md 2) Rebecca Llewellyn and moved to Fayette C ounty, Illinois where he is found in the 1830 census. About 1834 he move d to what became Lee County, Iowa and is listed in the 1836 Territory Cen su there but died in 1837. His widow is listed in the 1840 census of Le e County, Iowa. As for Elizabeth Van Hooser, she is listed in the 1830 ce nsus of that county. After her parents died, she moved to Nauvoo, Hancock , Illinois where sh died in 1843. !DIVORCE: In the Tennessee Archives can be found one of the older documen ts concerning the Stewarts in Overton Co., TN. This is a divorce petitio n for William Stewart and Elizabeth Van Hooser. This was submitted to th e General Assembly of the State of TN in the fall of 1824. Fifty-two me n signed the petition. William then married Rebecca Lewellyn. There wer e children by both marriages.
