BIOGRAPHY: Martha suffered many hardships in the early days of Dixie an
d worked in the old cotton factory for about 10 years. She had a very ch
eerful attitude, always smiling. At the age of 90 she fell and broke he
r hip and lived only a few months, never complaining at her lot in life
. Her funeral services where held Saturday April 9, 1955 and was burie
d by the side of her husband.

MARRIAGE: She was married at the age of 13 to William Riggs. She late
r married William Turnbeaugh.
CHILDREN: She had two children by William Riggs. She had 19 living chil
dren, and two sets of twins who were premature and died at birth, makin
g a total of twenty-five children born to her. One of the children weigh
ed fifteen (15) lbs. at birth. Source: Mrs. Minnie Paxman
BIOGRAPHY: She was the first white child born in Manti, Utah. She cam
e to Dixie (Washington, Washington, Utah) in 1862. Her parents were the f
irst to be baptized after the organization of the Church. They came acro
ss the plains in 1848. Her father helped work on the foundations of al
l four temples in Utah. As a girl Sarah would help pick cotton and shea
r sheep. Sarah was a queen and a loving wife and mother. It gave her jo
y to have her friends come in and talk of the gospel for she was a devou
t Latter-Day Saint.
DEATH: April 13, 1927 at Cedar City. Funeral services were held in Washi
ngton, Washington, Utah. She was laid to rest by the side of her husban
d in the Washington Cem., Washington, Washington, Utah.
