MARRIAGE: Sarah Averett's marriage was recorded in the journal of her bro ther, George Washington Gill Averett. Without the consent of her parents , Sarah married Obed Webb. Soon after they were married Obed abused Sara h by whipping her without the consent of her father or mother. He abuse d her in the most ridiculous manner .

HISTORY: In about 1835 the Averett family visited the Mormon missionarie s and their father, mother, three sisters, and two brothers all joined th e church. In April of 1836, Sarah's sisters Eliza and Jennett, and her b rothers Elijah and Elisha moved to Caldwell County, Missouri. The follow ing year Sarah's father, mother, sister Pyrenia, and brothers John and Mu rray also moved to Caldwell County, Missouri. Since Sarah was married, s he did not go with the family. As communicatoin was not like today, sh e lost communication with her family. Sarah died in McLeansboro, Hamilto n, Illinois on 4 May 1870.
