Taken from "Memories of Early Alamo, Nevada" by Theresa Stewart Wadsworth : Omer (Om, as we called him) was our family's "hero". Om and Ethel Grai nger Stewart lived right up the lot from us and really took good care o f our family. When Om was out of town I would stay with Ethel at night . She would set the table for supper just like we were having a banquet , and her milk would be in a pretty pitcher. Then she would braid her ha ir and put it in a bun. She had a small daughter named Hortnese, who wa s my pride and joy. The three of us would sleep in the same bed.
Hortense called me "Setsa". One time she had a little bag of candy and s he kep sharing it with me. she had saved two pieces. They were for he r Daddy. But finally she said, "Oh, Setsa, its's O.K. He wouldn't want a ny anyway" At Christmas time we made gifts for certain folks we liked. I t was half a walnut shell stuffed with fabric and tied with a ribbon. I t would be tied to a curtain. I gave one to Ethel and I can just see i t hanging there for a long time.
Om and Ethel were so good and took good care of our family. (Theresa's fa ther David Brinton Stewart died when she was only five). Om took a speci al interest in my brother Viv. (Viv was seven at his father's death). I n fact that is who Viv went to Calif. to live with to work and then Viv a lso bought their home there in Alamo for Mama.
Om drove the mail and was active in all community affairs.

NOTES: Omer Stewart had three daughters.
