NOTES: According to family records handed down to me, John Matthews die d in 1823. His wife, Elizabeth died about the same time and the family w as split into half. Half of them ended up in Madison Co., Illinois bein g raised by the Howard family and the other half remained in Overton Co. , Tennessee being raised by the Matthews family. The Matthew Pitts bibl e which Donna Boden has in her possession states that John Matthews die d 25 Oct 1822. I'm not sure the last child listed in the Bible record be longed to John Matthews and his wife, Elizabeth Howard or to their oldes t son, Abraham, who married Driscilla in Overton Co., Tennessee before th at date.
