1860 Census of Overton Co. Tennessee, 5th District, Oakhill Post office , taken 14 July 1860, page 242, line 21: John Townsend Poston was liste d as 38 years old. Also wife Sarah(31), John N.(12), Commodore(10) and Pa rolee Stewart(21). Parolee is his niece. He is a blacksmith with real e state valued at $4000 and personal property of $500. If you calculate ou t what today's (Apr 1998) dollar is worth against the worth of a 1860 dol lar: $1.00 = $13.14, they were quite well off. Researcher: Kathy Busby

I have assumed that this is John Townsend Poston as he is b uried next to his wife and parents. Headstone states year of birth as 1 814. Comments: I think the year should be 1824 which would make it mor e consistant with census records Researcher: Georgenia Stewart
