Family of John Gilbert Stewart (1824-1909) and Henrietta (Berry) Stewart (1838-1902)
12-1-1841 John Gilbert Stewart and Ira Jefferson Stewart purchased 40 acres in Lee Co., Iowa. Document 6830 states land was SWSW, Bk 20, 68 N. Township, 6W Range, 5th PM
12-1-1841 Rebecca Ann Stewart purchased 40 acres in Lee Co., Iowa. Document 3089 states land was SESE, Bk 19, 68 N. Township, 6W Range, 5th PM.Meridian.
As this is right next to the land purchased by Ira Jefferson and John Gilbert Stewart, I had assumed these were Rebecca's sons. Census records from 1860-1870 have Rebecca Stewart living with John Gilbert Stewart. The 1880 Census lists Rebecca Stewart as John G. Stewart's widowed mother who is living with him. I feel this is proof that John Gilbert Stewart is the son of William Stewart and Rebecca Llewellyn Stewart.

(John has a 11 year old daughter, Samaneth. This could not be Henritta's child. There is a Sarah Ann Stewart who married a John Stewart, 15 April 1848, in Lee Co., Iowa. Samaneth could be Sarah Ann's child. I think Sarah Ann died and John married Henritta and had their first child born 1855 in Missouri.)
