He was the son of Johannes Van Hosen and his first wife , Jannitje (Jane) Janse de Ryck. He was christened 1 Aug 1697 at the Dutc h Reformed Church at Kingston, Ulster, New York, which is across the Huds on River and down the river a ways. In those days, the people went wher e the traveling minister was, who happened to be Justus Falckner.
