!BURIAL: Notes from Knowla Stewart Morrow, 4120 Shannon Drive, Ft. Worth , Texas 76116, state she personally visited and photographed the headston es of David Kimbrough Stewart in the Florence Cemetery, Williamson County , Texas. She also states that possibly David and Margaret lost a child be tween Marcus S. and Samuel J. and possible 2 babies between Samuel J. an d Amry Amelia and maybe 2 or 3 babies between Reuben F. and John Thomas . Research: Georgenia Stewart, 10-31-98.

BIOGRAPHY: Pretty soon, after all three members of the group got back to gether both of the other boys started yelling and gesturing , Indians! In dians! and started running back to their horses; of course a very excited , frightened, nervous Reuben was running right after them. He wasn't abo ut to be left behind They all jumped on their horses and the two older bo ys started galloping off on their horses. Reuben's horse, being hobble d and tied, couldn't move. Scared, but undaunted, Reuben was so scared th at he started kicking and whipping on tha horse until the poor animal wa s able to work itself loose from its bindings and hobbles and took off i n a dead run after the older boys.

David Kimbrough and the Mark Robertson family and others moved from Overt on Co. TN to Pope Co., AR. David came to Texas from Tennessee earlier tha n the others, living in Bastrop Co. by 1850. He made a trip back to John son Co., AR and may have had a baby there that died as an infant (A Davi d Stewart did) prior to 1850. He was shown with a James and a John, who w ere the right age for brothers but who had children 9 or 10 yrs. old bor n in Texas.?? James and John father was Casey. I think they were both ki lled, probably in the Alamo or some Mexican battle. (Re Lomagene Boehm ) By 1860, he was living with the other Stewart families in Burnet Co. I n 1866 he was a registered voter in Lampasas Co. From Bastrop sometim e before 1850, Mark left home to find work other than on his father's far m. I guess he wanted to be independent and go it on his own, after all h e was now 17 years of age. He emigrated west to Williamson Co. and to th e little community of Florence where at the ripe old age of 17, he was wo rking as a laborer at one time for Mr. Zara Stearns and his wife Mary. M ark's other employment in 1850 was as a laborer for the household of Wm . R. Johnson. It must have been after his employment here in Florence th at he married Elizabeth and they moved to Cleo, Kimble Co., TX near Junct ion.
It was only natural for David Kimbrough's family to migrate west toward F lorence, for in 1850 there were 92 families who lived in 230 dwellings ac cording to the 1850 census of Williamson Co. Most of the citizens in th e county were natives of Tennessee.
Sometime after 1850, D.K. & Margaret again moved their family to Georgeto wn. In the deed records we find that D.K. in Sept. 1853 purchased from P rosper Wales farmland that straddled the South San Gabriel River for $150 . The second parcel of land that he purchased in November of 1853 was pu rchased from John J. Ake for the sum of $17 for 338 acres of land. SOURCE : Database of Mary Stewart Hicks.

CENSUS: 1860 Census of Burnet County, Texas, household 100, lists:
D. K. Stewart, 45, male, sadler, born in Tennessee
Margaret Stewart, 44, female, born in Tennessee
Mary E. Stewart, 18, female, born in Arkansas
Reuben F. Stewart, 16, male, bornin Arkansas
John T. Stewart, 6, male, born in Texas
Margaret E. Stewart, 4, female, born in Texas
