NOTES: Benjamin Salkield sailed on the ship "Zetland" on the 10th of Nov, 1849 with Martha, age 44, William, age 8 and Sarah, age 6. They were living at 68 Devonshire Lane, Sheffield. Benjamin was also re-baptized at Mill Creek on March 15, 1857. Martha gave as her birth date and place, July 2, 1811, Lincoln, Lincolnshire, and was baptized March 15, 1857. Also Sarah Born 1843 and Jane, born 1803.
The address of Major Salkield has been sent to the British Mission
Office.
(Two years after the death of his wife, Emma, Benjamin returned to
England with his two children and while there married Martha
Wolfeth--this pertains to his second crossing.)
We do not consider the entry of Amelia Dawson pertains to our Amelia Rawson. From the endowment house baptisms we note that Benjamin
Salkield performed the baptism for William Rawson, his grandfather.
However, many mistakes have been made in the early baptisms, but until
we can get more proof, we will leave the pedigree with William as the
father. SOURCE: LDS Genealogical Society, Research Dept., Henry E. Christiansen, Supt.
[73] Alternate marriage date was 5 Mar 1862, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. This is possibly their temple marriage date.
