SOURCE: Taken from "Memories of Early Alamo, Nevada" by Theresa Stewar t Wadsworth: Omer (Om, as we called him) was our family's "hero". Om an d Ethel Grainger Stewart lived right up the lot from us and really took g ood care of our family. When Om was out of town I would stay with Ethel a t night. She would set the table for supper just like we were having a b anquet, and her milk would be in a pretty pitcher. Then she would braid e her hair and put it in a bun. She had a small daughter named Hortense , who was my pride and joy. The three of us would sleep in the same bed . Hortense called me "Setsa". One time she had a little bag of candy an d she kept sharing it with me. She had saved two pieces. They were fo r her Daddy. But finally she said, "Oh, Setsa, it's O.K. He wouldn't wan t any anyway" At Christmas time we made gifts for certain folks we liked . It was half a walnut shell stuffed with fabric and tied with a ribbon . It would be tied to a curtain. I gave one to Ethel and I can just se e it hanging there for a long time. Om and Ethel were so good and took g ood care of our family. (Theresa's father David Brinton Stewart died whe n she was only five). Om took a special interest in my brother Viv. (Vi v was seven at his father's death). In fact that is who Viv went to Cali f. to live with to work and then Viv also bought their home there in Alam o for Mama. Om drove the mail and was active in all community affairs.

NOTES: Omer Stewart had three daughters.
