OBITUARY: KANAB--William T. Stewart, 81, of Alamo, Nev., a former residen
t of this city, and member of the territorial legislature in the 90's, di
ed Thursday at Alamo. Mr. Stewart was born October 18, 1853 in Kanab, Uta
h the son of Levi and Marjorie Wilkerson Stewart. He had been active in t
he Church, as well as being a prominent member of the southern Utah commu
nity. He served on three missions for the Church, the first among the Nav
ajo Indians in the southwest and two later missions in New Zealand, actin
g as president on his second mission from 1890 until 1894. He was chose
n to represent the southern Utah counties at the first two sessions of th
e territorial assemblies.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary A. Udall Stewart; seven sons, Will
iam T. Jr., Sumner, David, Ray, Carlos, Paul and Marion Stewart, all of A
lamo; five daughters, Mrs. Maud Udall, Lehi; Mrs. Tamar Hamlin, Kanab; Mr
s. Fannie Fullerton, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Margie Steele and Mrs. Mary Lee
. Alamo; a brother, Brigham F. Stewart. Stafford, Ariz.; three sisters, M
rs. Ella K. Udall Mesa, Ariz.; Mrs. Anna Riggs and Mrs. Ethel Henrie of A
lamo; 60 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren
