Johanna married Elijah Averett when she was 18 and he was 44. She bore twelve children. She was a widow for 38 years. She was an expert knitter and supported her family by this art. Note crippled hands. On a visit to Kanab, Utah, I located this chair that Johanna is setting in. It was in the possession of Ramona Johnson who had inherited it from her mother, Louise, a daughter of Johanna. As it was falling apart, I have had it restored and it will be placed in the Pioneer Museum in Kanab, Utah, for all of her descendants to enjoy.
