The follwing is from A History of Two Families by Clayton BOyce and Dori s Forbes Boyce, Information provided by Linda Mae BOyce-Morgan.

Alice Boyce, the second child, was born in 1861. She was the firs t white child born on San Juan Island. Up until this time, babies born o n the island had white fathers and Indian mothers. Alice married Joseph S weeney in 1881. They had four children, William, May, Josephine and Alice . In 1876, Joe Sweeney, a former logger, was operating a trading post o n Orcas Island. As Friday Harbor was in the process of being establishe d as a town, Sweeney moved there and built a mercantile store in what wa s to be the center of town. Joe Sweeney ultimately became wealthy and ser ved for a time as a county commissioner.

We have little Information on the next four children, William, Katherine , Ida (Addie), and Maybelle. What information we have is shown in Famil y Group Chart No. 1 in the Appendix.
